No character level, no class, no cash shop. Independent skills that rise through
use, a plot of land that keeps growing while you are logged out, and a world you
can walk end to end without a loading screen.
✦Skills, through use
Chop alder until your hands know it, then kelder, then heartoak that stood
through the Telling. Fish four waters. Fight what walks out of the gray. Each
skill levels on its own and unlocks better tools — a copper axe that has not
learned anything yet, an heirloom kept-steel edge at twenty.
✦A steading of your own
The village grants newcomers land up the lane, under an old custom: worked
land is kept land. Till it, plant hearthroot sets, water them, harvest. It
grows in real time — including the hours you are not here.
✦One continuous world
Evergreen weald, a sunlit strand, the Goldwash desert and its one green
spring, and the red-rock maze of the Redreach with the old pilgrim road
running through it. Walk between them. Day and night sweep the whole March
while other people are out in it with you.
✦The Undermark
Three floors down, and each floor's stair stays barred until you clear it:
Hollow Things, then Stalkers and a Mistchild, then the Unmade Warden, which
was built to keep a door and does not know the Telling ended. Die and you
wake at the mouth — healed, and poorer for the time.
